WELCOME TO COUGAR VOLLEYBALL CLUB!

Cougar Volleyball kicked off our inaugural season of club volleyball in January 2020. After searching for club volleyball throughout the Fraser Valley, it was quickly realized that no club existed for the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows communities and if athletes wanted to play volleyball, they had to travel to other communities. With time, scheduling, tournaments, etc. being in other communities, we figured it was a great time to re-establish competitive volleyball in Ridge Meadows.

As the Board of Directors met to begin establishing a brand new program, we thought it would be easier to just focus solely on girls volleyball in order to get an idea of how it all worked. So we began putting our minds together on what the club should look like, what we aimed to accomplish, and what we wanted each player to come away with when they come out of the Cougar Volleyball program. Our immediate desire is to create a premier club volleyball program with everything we do being done with excellence in mind. That being said, we were so excited to get going not having any idea what to expect. Starting with a girls program and having no idea of what the need would be, or if there was a need in the community, we originally hoped to start with a solid foundation of 35 players, while dreaming of 50 joining the club. Excitement was not a strong enough word to use when in our first-ever season we had 105 girls join Cougar Volleyball Club!

After being shut down halfway through our first indoor club season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we quickly shifted our aim to beginning a brand new Boys Volleyball program, a Beach Volleyball program and developing a Fall Development program as well. Our hope now is to offer a comprehensive, year-round player development program to establish Cougar Volleyball as a premier club in the province.

We learned so much in our first year and we could not be more grateful for the ups, downs, twists and turns in getting started. It’s made us constantly evaluate, dream big, and plan for an incredible program going forward with huge ambitions for sustained success and growth! With that our aim became very clear and we can’t wait to see it come to fruition through the incredible hard work of our coaches and volunteers and of course every player involved with Cougar Volleyball! Our aim is simple:

Cougar volleyball Club exists to create opportunities for athletes ages 8 and older to establish a long-term passion for the sport of volleyball while learning the values of teamwork, leadership, and a common goal. Our aim is to learn the game of volleyball, to love the game of volleyball, and to live out the leadership skills we learn from the game in order to impact our community.
